TAHOE ART LEAGUE CONTEST RULES
Contest Purpose:
- To encourage ongoing
creativity; to gain an appreciation of members’ artwork; to provide
exposure for artists in the media; and to offer opportunities to display
and sell.
Contest Rules:
- All TAL members
are welcome to participate in the TAL Contest, which is held monthly
at every general meeting.
- The artwork will
be judged by the membership. The first prizewinner will receive a check
for $25; all three winners will have the opportunity to display and
sell their works at the Lake Tahoe Community College Library for the
month following the meeting.
- All visual fine
art mediums are accepted.
- Criteria: Works
must be original and new, created within the past year (except sculptures
which can be created within the last five years.) Please no prints or
copies. Your older works are not appropriate for this contest, just
fresh newer pieces!
- Prepare art to display
or hang (frames, clean mats, sturdy wires for hanging.) Bring your artwork
to the meeting fifteen minutes early.
- Temporarily cover
the signature so each work will be anonymous.
- Place identification
(name and phone number) on the back of the work.
Procedure for Winners:
- Winners are asked
to stay briefly after the meeting to have their photo taken and to fill
out the artist waiver and price card.
- The art will be
displayed at the LTCC Library at the artist’s own risk. A commission
of 15% of any sale incurred due to the contest display will be given
to the Tahoe Art League. The sales transaction will be conducted between
the buyer and the TAL Contest Chair. The TAL Treasurer will pay the
artist.
- The Contest Chair
will hang the works on the day after the meeting.
- The Contest Chair
will arrange for pick-up of the artwork with the artists prior to the
meeting. If the artist needs to remove the art from the display, the
Contest Chair must be notified.
- Any member who has
been fortunate enough to win first prize in the TAL contest three times
in one year, will be asked to forego any additional first prizes (cash)
within that calendar year.
