Dr. Dave Russo has donated a giclee of his original oil painting “Emerald Bay Sunset”, valued at $800, to benefit the work of the Tahoe Art League. Dr. Russo is an internationally acclaimed master painter who studied with Picasso during his teens. He now teaches at the Lake Tahoe Community College and also invites local and visiting artists to paint Plein Air on Sundays with him every summer. This unique portrait of Emerald Bay presents a realistic view in an expressionistic style, characteristic of Russo’s landscapes. Bonita Paulis, a renowned pastel artist of the Sierras, the California Coast, and the Desert Southwest, has donated a giclee of her original pastel, “Awakening Lake”. Bonita’s art graces many collections and she has been featured in several art magazines and texts. Jill Mueller, an accomplished impressionist watercolorist and art educator, has generously donated her original watrcolor, titled “The Nipple”. Jill’s extensive art education coupled with her love of nature has led to a successful painting and teaching career. Her painting workshops are very popular. As a hiker, traveler and “horse woman,” Jill has an intimate knowledge of the subjects that inspire her paintings. Her mastery of transparent watercolor leads to stunning images. Dr. Phil Stevenson’s landscape photographpy has earned several awards and often depicts familiar and well-loved Tahoe scenes. His photograph titled “Marsh Reflections” captures the late evening alpine glow of Freel Peak reflected in the Upper Truckee Marsh. He is fascinated by Tahoe’s lenticular skys, mountain wildflowers, and patterns in the winter snow and ice.
